I WILL BE WHOLE WEEK MUSIC AND MERRIMENT i Occasion Will Also he Made Big Trading Event and Many Visitors Expected. Plans have leen going on quietly for some time for a week of real . musical feast for Cedar City and surrounding sections. Details have now been completed and there shall be offered during the week of August Aug-ust 13th one of the most important musical events ever scheduled for southern Utah. Five nights of un-l usually entertaining, high class and facinating attractions. Fred C. Graham, director of the Southern Utah School of Musi-. and who has had years of experience in presenting pre-senting attractions of the very best has arranged a program to begin with the regular weekly concert Sunday night. August 13th. when the pupils of Dorret Evans-Wool-ley will be presented, assisted by some of the teaching force of the Summer School. Then on Tuesday, Tues-day, August 14th, a "Vaudeville De Luxe" will be presented in the Ward Hall. Among the, features of the vaudeville will be the "Dan-ceuic "Dan-ceuic Expose," featuring Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Castle, Joan Sawyer, Gertrude Hoffman and other celeb-rites. celeb-rites. There will be the famous Nijineski' Russian ballet, imported i all the way from' Petrngrad. The Farm Yard Four (not the mascu-l line kind) in several "choice vocal bits." The local favorite. Lafe Mc-j Connell, will present a sketch, "No Wedding Bells for Me," which is aj scream from beginning to end. "The Rescue of Tillies Pettenhill,"! by Charley Chaplin is another big scream. D. B. Crosby, an old time stage professional is working up one of I the most clever vaudeville hits ever presented. Of cource all the' teachers of the school will appear, j Miss Thomas and Mrs. Wolley are! working up a clever and artistic musical act. C.ustave Soderland and Kenneth Roylance will both appear in musical mus-ical numbers. A scene from El, Travata will be given by Miss Evans Ev-ans and Mr. Graham. On Wednesday evening. August 15. the pupils of Gustave Soderland Soder-land will be presented. On Thursday evening August 16, at the Ward Hall, a grand ball will be given as the close of the danc-' ing classes, and to which the gener- al public are cordially invited. Miss Kvans is planning some ball room demonstrations. On Friday evening, August 17th, Iff. Graham will present at a heavy; financial risk, one of the very finest singers ever heard in Utah. Mar-1 jorie Dodge-Warner, late of Chicago Chi-cago has been contracted for, for a recital to close the week's events. The musical week will be advertised adver-tised generally throughout this southern section, and a great many people from nearby towns are expected ex-pected to come to Cedar City during dur-ing the week to enjoy this musical festival, and at the same time at-1 j .'end to their late summer shopping., The merchants of Cedar arc plan-; ning on conducting a sale during; this week. Shop windows will be dressed for the occasion and the tuwn will put on a community fes-. fes-. al attire. |
