Show MIDVALLEY Mjdvallcy, May 12, 1920. Today tho girls of tho Enoch and Midvallcy schols will contest in a game of baseball, and afterwards a dance will be given by tho teachers in the Enoch ward hall whero refreshments re-freshments will bo served. Under tho auspices of the Midvallcy Midval-lcy school over threo hundred trees have been planted around tho homes and on tho farms hereabouts. Along with them small fruit bushes, shrubbery shrub-bery and flowers have been planted in large quantities by the school children. Mr. nnd Mrs. Leonard Height came in a few days sinco from their ranch in Nevada for a short business trip and to visit relatives. They returned last Wednesday. The young, peoplo say they may make this their homo after a year or two but will livo in Nevada for the present. And whilo wo are about it, there is but little said in the way the population pop-ulation is increasing in this vicinity. Threo baby boys in a week, ono each at tho homes of Mr. and Mrs. Owen Mathcson, Mr. and Mrs. David Muric and Mr. and Mrs. T. LoRoy Uric. Whilo the news is somewhat late it is however, worthy of mention. a Mr. Enoch Ward, formerly of Nebraska Ne-braska with his family are at present located at the Esplin farm where they will spend the summer in the employment employ-ment of Mr. Esplin and it is hoped they will finally locate hero as it id desirous to havo as many new comers as possible hero and this will soon be ono of the biggest rural districts in the county. Tho Midvalloy and Enoch schools will spend tomorrow in the Enoch meadows. Each school will have its spring poems, songs and stories for the entertainment of the other school with games, folk dances, land contests in jumping, running, etc. ' ns part of the day's sport. The pic- I nic and refreshments will be given on the green velvet carpet of the meadow with violets and other wild flowers a3 i a centerpiece, and to tho music of the I birds nnd the bubbling brook. They ; just can't wait. I Wc havo a number of additional ' residents coming in and tho latest aro Mr. and Mrs. J. Alvin Davenport nnd family formerly of Wyndham and now occupying the former homo of Mr. G. W. Esplin from whom Mr. Davenpbrt recently purchased a large tract of land in company with Mr. Stanley Smith and G. W. Jones, and farther west Milton Urie will occupy tho Owen homo that is now being built. The latter gentleman is now on his way to Salina to bring his family whilo there is a short lull in the farm work. i All the farmers in the district aro bending their efforts to plant every acre possible and to bring every available avail-able aero under cultivation but the matter of feed is a serious question at ' present and the crop will be curtailed on that account ns many are now turning out every animal they can to make what hay they have spin out ns far as possible. Tho slogan from the government to Produce More is all well and good and n splendid doctrine i but how is he going to produce more ! when the labor question (is of so much moment that he cannot get money to buy seed. John Frotwoll of Cedar has a force of men at work on a new bungalow on the E. M. Owen farm in tho west- , orn part of tho district and is being pushed as fast as possible. It is to bo of brick and a thoroughly modern farm house with basement and . screened in porches, etc. This housu 'will be on tho direct line of all tho i cross country travel.' The work ' should hnve been completed somo two I months sinco but owing to tho fact that it was impossible to obtain ce- iment and other material, Mr. Frct- jWell was forced to delay and it has been a hardship in many ways as tho gcntlemun has other largo contracts ' waiting nnd is anxious to complete it on that account. |
