Show BIG IRRIGATION PROJECT FOR.BEAVER COUNTY As outlined-in our columns a few weeks ago, A. N. Humphries, Hum-phries, N. T. Porter and associ-. ate, inlcuding quite a number of i gentlemen, have taken up 25,000 ' acres of land under the Carey Act and we are advised their ap-' plication has been approved by the State Board of land commissioners. commis-sioners. They propose to irrigate irri-gate this land by water purnped , with electricity. The land lies on the bench East and southeast of .Milford and better land never lay outdoors. This is one of the big things of Beaver County and if it is a success will mean ten , times that amount in the course of the next few years. We also prohpesy that irrigating this 25,000 on the bench will sub-ir-, rigate probably twice as much additional land lying, below it in this same valley. That has been the history o: Utah valleys where the benches have been irrigated. The water seeps out below and in Hie course of a few years the sub-irrigated land below is worth as much as or more than the original irrigated land on the bench. Beaver County News. |
