Show TO FILL A LONO FELT WANT. A number of our solid citizens met in Dr. Middleton's office last Monday night for the purpose of devising de-vising means for the erection of a bank in our city. Among those present were Uriah T. Jones, Lelii W. Jones. Henry Lunt, G. W. Mid-tlleton, Mid-tlleton, N'T. Porter, H. Driggs, M.J Higbce and others. The conclusion was reached that it was time that Cedar had a bank. Fifteen thousand thous-and dollars was thonght sufficient capital to begin with.and committees ( were appointed to look up the details de-tails of the organization and report at a subsequent meeting. Committee Commit-tee on constitution and bye laws, N. T. Porter and II. R. Driggs. On subscription to capital stock G. W. Middleton and U. T. Jones. On building I',. W. Jones and M. D. Iligbee. As far as possible home cipital will be secured for the enterprise en-terprise and if sufiiicient home subscribers sub-scribers can be secured no outside capital will be solicited. We are informed that outside capital stands ready to step in to the full amount of the stock limit if wanted. This idea has been in the minds of a number of our citizens for some time past as the need of a bank has long been felt in ourfcity, but they,, h.'vve not had much toay about iu Certain parties have however been making investigation?, and have become convinced that it can be made n payina-iproposhion; which is the main tiling in all such matters Another meeting will be held in the Doctor's office next Monday night, to hear the reports of the .committees, .commit-tees, and the transaction of such other business as inny be neces-ary. |
