Show I BUTTE, MONT. I j i High and low masses were celebrated celebrat-ed in all of the Catholic churches of the city on Christmas, beginning at 5 o'clock and continuing until 11. Special Spe-cial music was rendered by the different dif-ferent choirs, and sermons were delivered de-livered by the priests. At each of the churches the crowds' at every mass were very large. The sacred edifices had been beautifully decorated with evergreen and holly, and beautiful flowers appeared on the altars. At the j church of the Sacred Heart the scene i presented was an enchanting and most impressive one. The entire interior of the spacious building has latelv been repainted and decorated in an artistic manner. Augmented with evergreen branches and beautiful roses, carnations carna-tions and lilies, the appearance was exceptionally attractive. In all of the Catholic churches of the city on New Year's masse v,-re celebrated, beginning at 5 o'clock in the morning. At 9:30 masses wore said for the children. The choirs repeated re-peated the musio rendered Christmas day. At St. Patrick's church Rev. Father DeSiere preached at 11 o'clock. At Sacred Heart church Rev. Father Morris preached. At St. Lawrence's church Rev. Father Chauve of Salt Lake City preached a sermon. 'Rev. Father Barry preached at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, and Rev. Father English preached at S!. Mary's church. Rev. Father Leitham preached a New Year's sermon at ti e 11 o'clock mass at St. Joseph's. The annual ball of the Robert Em met Literary society was given Tuesday Tues-day night at Hibernfa hall. Centerville. and was attended by a large crowd. The hall had been elaborately decorated decorat-ed for the occasion, and the music, which was provided by a large orchestra, or-chestra, was entrancing. Immediately after the whistles at the mines had announced the birth of the new year a leap year dance was given, the ladies la-dies selecting their own partners. I |
