Show THE HOLY NAME. - An extension of the work effected by the Catholic Cath-olic Holy Name Society is advocated by the Toronto Toron-to World. It publishes a form'of pledge which it would have its readers sign, and thus promise both to refrain from profane language themselves, and to assist in discountenancing profanity in others. The World would adopt the Catholic appellation "Holy Xame" for the new association, and thinks the title would prove a bond of desirable union between be-tween Catholics and Protestants. It is to be hoped that the movement may "grow rapidh? and widely. All Christians may assuredly unite in an earnest endeavor to stem the torrent of present-day profanity, pro-fanity, the most utterly senseless and unremunera-tive unremunera-tive to say nothing of the sinfulness of its use to which language can be put. Ave Maria. |
