Show Saving Shoe Leather. These two suggestions sound exceedingly exceed-ingly practical, and if you have several pairs of spry young feet to keep covered, cov-ered, try them: Get 5 cents' worth of neatsfoot oil; cover the bottom of flat platter or baking bak-ing pan with the oil: set the shoes in oil at night; leave until morning; do not oil uppers. 4 Repeat once a month. This keeps out waer, keeps the feet dry, and prolongs the life of the sole about two-fold. Do not put on shoes first morning until ready to leave the house. Oil will soil carpets and floors until thoroughly dried into the sole. A coat of gum of copal varnish applied ap-plied to the soles of boots and shoes, and repeated as it dries until the pores are filled and the surface shines like polished mahogany, will make the soles waterproof and make them last three times as long. |
