Show MISSOULA, MONT. Knights of Columbus Initiate Fitfy Members of a New Council. i Missoula, Mont., July 3. Ceremonies incidental to the initiation of fifty j members into the new council of the Knights of Columbus were concluded at 10:30 o'clock last night with a sumptuous sump-tuous banquet served at Elks' hall, where at least 200 leading knights of Montana and Spokane sat down to the table. The morning train from Butte brought 133 members, which did not include a - large number who came in on the evening train from Butte, Helena Hel-ena and Anaconda. -The initiation ceremonies-were under the auspices of the team from the Anaconda Ana-conda council, consisting of Captain William Kelly, grand knight;' Colonel T. O. ; Leary, chancellor: Joseph Mc-Haffie. Mc-Haffie. inquisitor: William Mahoney, recording secretary- Joseph Kelly, financial secretary; "Joseph Peters, treasurer; Captain Phil Greeman, warden, war-den, and Joe McDonald, deputy grand knight. The ceremonies started at 9 o'clock in the morning, after which the first degree was conferred. Then all of the knights repaired in a body to Saint Francis church, where high mass was celebrated, and where Rev. James Foley of Baltimore, Md., delivered an eloquent discourse touching touch-ing the Knights of Columbus. The special train from Butte arrived' at 10:30 o'clock and all attended mass. The second degree was conferred in the afternoon, at 1:30 o'clock, and shortly after 3 o'clock the third degree de-gree was conferred by Territorial Depu ty C. P. Connolly and his staff. At 7:30 o'clock the 200 guests sat down to the banquet. William L. Murphy acted as temporary toastmaster. but later C. E. Meagher, .grand knight of the , Butte council, presided. 1 . All of the'officers of the Butte council coun-cil responded to toasts and were given ovations in turn. One of the prettiest weddings that has occurred in the city for some time took place at' the Saint Francis Xavier church, June 2t, when Gaspard Des-champs Des-champs led to the altar Miss Mayme Fomela Rogers. The bridal party entered en-tered the church and walked to the altar to the strains of the wedding inarch, played bv Sister Donata. and j were met by the" groom and best man at the sanctuary. Rev. Father Palledino officiatinsr. Mr. and Mrs. Deschimps left for Spokane, Spo-kane, where they will spend their honeymoon, hon-eymoon, returning in about ten days to Missoula, where .they will make their future home. |
