Show IRISH BALLAD WRITER. ; Mrs. Alicia Adelaide Xeedhain of London is one of the most prolific musical mu-sical composers of the day, jtay& The Freeman's Journal of Dublin. Her list of songs numbers close on 300, and she has. moreover, published several series of lullaby songs and folk songs In volume vol-ume form. Mrs. Needham is art Armagh Ar-magh lady. She first gained distinction distinc-tion as a pianist, and then turned her attention to composing songs. She has set many Irish ballads to music and her setting of Mangan's poem, "Dark Itosaleen," is especially fine. Mrs. Needham, on six different occasions, won the prize for the best original songs at the Feis Ceoil Irish Musical Festival. She is ovate bardess of the Welsh Gorsedd title Telyn-y-Iwerdon Harp' of Ireland. Mrs. Needham is the wife of Dr. Joseph Needham of Clapham, London. |
