Volpe. .me of the best known and beloved be-loved i.viests of our state, died at ' Ho. kii'-r sanitarium Tuesday shortly before midnight. Death was due to and .-tomarh trouble. Previously to that time he had j carri-d on enert'etif work in various parts of this state, and particularly in I Cripple t'reek. He wJS well I motvn througlu-ui. the district and in k this city. and was universally honored and respected by all clashes of people. Father Volpe was born in France. He was till years of age. He belonged to the Franciscan order. He took up r.uher Render's work in Cripple Creek when the duties became too great for him to aitend to. and Father Render was, in all probability, his most intimate inti-mate friend in this part f the country. Hav- i ing dwelt on the dignity and w,.rk of th priest in general, the' Rev. Father paid a high tribute to the deceased by referring to his pioneer work in the Colorado mining camps, and concluded by exhorting the congregation to pray for the eternal repose of his soul. Amongst the, congregation were noticed no-ticed spvp"a! o' tb- sister of the Glock-r.v, Glock-r.v, who came to pay their last respects to the deceased, who had been their chaplain for a jiumb'Y of years. The l sisters of Loretto were also represent ed at the funeral, and the Cecilian choir attached to the Loretto academy rendered ren-dered the music of the mass, in the Gregorian chant. |
