All the members of last year's victorious team are o nhand. As soon as the snow clears away practice will begin. Young Mien Organize. The interest which is generally felt ; hi the Catholic Mutual Benevolent as sociation in Denver has led the young-. young-. er gemeration to establish, a branch council, which will be under the control of the parent organization. It will be iknmvn as St. Mary's branch No. 9. The members are all young men, most of them eons of those who have been affiliated with the older council since its establishment here several years tgo. The older people will take a personal per-sonal interest in the welfare cf the new council and will aid by fatherly counsel to make it a success. St. Mary's council No. 9 was opened with a membership of fifty. The roster ros-ter of names includes representatives of all the old Catholic families, and many of the boys who have but recently recent-ly left whooI. Their programme will include some social features as well as the church work. The initial reception recep-tion was held last week at Elks' hall in the Mining Exchange building. Abmit 200 young people attended. The hall was elaborately decorated. During Dur-ing the evening St. Elizabeth's choir pang a number of selections. The grand march was led by President Presi-dent William Dolan and Miss Nellie Kern. To the committees in charge of the affair is especially due the credit for its success. They are as follows: Messrs. Sitterlee, Grady, Burns and Kennehan, refreshment committee; J. ID. Cummingg and Otto Keller, cloak room; William Dolan, William RDth-crberger, RDth-crberger, J. D. Present at the first social affair were the five veteran chancellors cf local branches of the C. M. B. A., namely, Thomas J. Lcavy, John A. Ilynn, P. T. MeDermott, Charles Nast and T. J. Quinlivan. The Queen's Daughters. f -In order to raise funds with which ito furnish a room at the Mercy sanitarium sani-tarium the Queen's Daughters will hold I I a card party sometime 111 February. This was decided upon at a meeting hel l Saturday afternoon at the home of Miss Allen, 2923 West Eighteenth avenue av-enue The meeting was the largest since the organization of the Denver council and was especially enthusiastic. It spit" of the cold weather almost every ev-ery member attended. Miss May Mullen Mul-len was placed 'in charge of the arrangements ar-rangements for the card party and it pr 'inisps to be a delightful success. The musical and literary programme given Saturday afternoon was very 1 pleasing.. Miss Allen's reading was a delightful feature of it. !, Annunciation Fair. He chose for his topic: "The Name of Jesus," and concluded his sermon with a. prayer for the growth of the Society of the Holy Name. . f The Tuesday solemn High Mass requiem re-quiem was sung in Logan Avenue chapel for the repose of the soul of Mrs. Annie McGorern. The Fleur de Lis club gave : delightful delight-ful dance at Cotillion hall Friday evening. even-ing. Miss Nora O'Brien of the cathedral parish is steadily improving in the warm limate of southern California. The Andern club was entertained on Wednesday by Mrs. J. C. Hess of 2235 Ogden street will be hostess at next Wednesday's meeting. One of the prettiest midwinter weddings wed-dings was that of Miss Mary Rorse Keily and Mr. Thomas Thelwell Eccles which took place last' week at the home of the bride. Rev. Miss Kiely was attended at-tended by her young sister Miss Nellie Kiely as bridesmaid. Only rela tives were present at the ceremony, after af-ter which a dainty supper was served. The bride is an attractive young woman who has many friends and the groom is a popular young druggist. Mr. and Mrs. Eccles will be at home after Feb. Ij. The Sacred Heart Aid society were entertained pleasantly on Thursday afternoon of this week by Mesdames E. M. Du Bois. Mrs. D. Callahan and Mrs. Catlett, The hostesses, received the members at room 325 Charles block and the afternoon was spent at cards. LEADVILLiTcOLO. Mr. J. J. O'Neill spent part, of last week in Leadville. f Mrsh. J. H. Gillespie and Mrs. Dan Conway, of Victor, are visiting their mother, Mrs. C. J. Sullivan, of 10S North Alder street. 4 Mrs. A. B. Campbell gave an afternoon after-noon recently in honor of Mrs. S. J. Sullivan, jr., who was in in the city from Mexico. Mrs. Campbell was assisted as-sisted in receiving by Mrs. J. H. Kinsley. Kins-ley. The decorations were green and white. The dining room was beautifully beauti-fully decorated in smilax and carnations, carna-tions, smilax being draped from the chandelier to the table. Dainty refreshments re-freshments were served during the afternoon. Euchre was the game of the afternoon. The first prize being won by Mrs. Carrie Meyers, second by Mrs. Charlea Schrader, while Mrs. S. J. Sullivan, Sul-livan, jr.. the guest of honor, carried off the visiting lady's prize.
