Show ECHOES OF THE CONCERT. Last Sunday Rev. Father Kiely in a few kindly words thanked the congregation congre-gation for the patronage and encouragement encour-agement given for the concert on St. Patrick's day. 4 Miss Owen, Mrs. Martha Royle King, Mr. Charles Kent and Mr. J.D. Sullivan Sulli-van won much applause for their splendid splen-did singing. The rule "no flower? over the footlights" foot-lights" won the commendation of all. Thopc in charge of the concert extend ex-tend their gratitude to Mr. G. D. Pvper Mr. George Derr and all the employes for the courtesy extended at the Theatre. The-atre. f One of the prettiest numbers on the programme M-as that given by the little folk? from the Kearns St. Ann's orphanage. or-phanage. Surely the bright pretty pupils pu-pils are a credit to the untiring zeal of RL Rev. Bishop Scanlan. Rev. Father Kiely and the good sisters. . - . . ' - . A particularly attractive feature was the appearance of the All Hallows college col-lege band, under Professor Pedersen. The boys opened the prog ramme ith a tine march that Inspired all. both performers per-formers and audience. No one took more interest in the concert than Rt. Father Guinan..the popular president of All Hallows, -who mimbers his friends by the legion. That the concert was a success "was gratifying to clergy and laity alike. The children, from the tinjr tots, some not 3 years old. to the young ladies, made a beautiful and inspiring picture. In the minds and hearts of the audience Mere tender thought? of the good and worthy bishop, to whom all the credit revert?. The Junior choir of M:. Marvs cathedral M-as organized t him." and all these years it ha? been 1 under his special protection, he has 1 given every detail of the choral instruction instruc-tion his. individual attention; from his private pur?e has come ententainment for the children and many an hour on Saturdav afternoons ha? he spent witn the little singer?. He has such a hold on their voung hearts that every little child taking part in .the programme last Meek, was inspired to do her best bv remembering that the bishop vould be pleased if he were present. To Bishop Scanlan are the children of the Junior choir indebted for their training and to no one else. In the years to come the gratitude they already have for "him will fill their hearts for all time. |
