Show i m j KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS. ' Liquor Dealers Barred and Will Be Ousted if Found in the Order. In reply to an inquiry directed to. Edward L. Hearn, supreme knight of the Knights of Columbus, regarding certain proceedings of the recent convention con-vention of the order, Mr. Hearn writes the Catholic Citizen as follows: "Replying, I would say that the clipping clip-ping which you enclosed was in error when it stated that the Knights of Columbus Co-lumbus declined to enter into the Federation Fed-eration of Catholic societies. The matter mat-ter did not come rnperly before the convention for action, ami. consequently, consequent-ly, the. convention could take no action i in the matter. "The attitude of the Knights of Columbus Co-lumbus towards liquor dealers is this: In S!).r certain laws were nromulgated debarring liquor dealers from membership member-ship in the order, either insured or associate. as-sociate. It is unden'able that since that date men have gained admittance Into the ordPr who are engaged in the liquor business, or have entered said business since their entry into the order. or-der. It is the purpose of the officers ot tbe Knights of Columbus to cancel the membership of every person who is : tound to be a member contrary to the laws of the order." |
