I The-members of the football team at j All Hallows were banqueted Saturday afternoon by Father Guinan. president of the college. The feast was held in the faculty dining room, which was appropriately ap-propriately decorated for the occasion. The tables were arranged in the shape of a large horseshoe, upon which, besides be-sides the many good things to eat and drink, were numerous bouquets of beautiful flowers", while the wails were draped in royal bine and college flaps. Conversation of the p!eas:intest nature na-ture was indulged in during the destruction de-struction of viands, and many amutdng incidents of the reason's playing were related, v. Father Leehner acted as toastmaster, and with nis usual wit and humor, introduced in-troduced the toasits, lo which responses respon-ses were made by Father Guinan, Feather KeUedy. Coach Bas-ett. Captain Cap-tain Curran, Messrs. Sullivan and Stewart. Stew-art. Besides the regular memhers of "the team there were present as guests Messrs. Peabody, Bero and Stanton, who!e assistance to the team was gracefully recounted by the toastmaster. toastmas-ter. Mr. Peabody replied in behalf of the guests, also reviewing the season and remarking upon the splendid showing made by the team. The selection of a captain' for 1905 was then taken up. Fullback Gridley and Quarterback Owens were both nominated. The choice finally fell upon the latter. Owens made a short but snappy speech of acceptance, promising that the team would improve im-prove a' much next year as it did this. By this time the final courses had been cleared, and all left the banquet hall promising to play on the team next fall and feeling that if the season of 1904 was a success, that of 1905 would be doubly so. |
