Show -T- . ARCHBISHOP ELDER LEFT $400. The estate left by Archbishop Elder, according to the provisions of his will, amounts to just $400, of which $200 was left to the priests of the most needy parishes in the diocese for masses for the repose of the souls of those in purgatory, and. the other $2w0 to be divided in alms among the poor. The will was dated March 1900, and a codicil was added on Feb. 1. 1004, when the venerable archbishop arch-bishop learned that he was not much longer for this world. He leaves all the property, real or personal, per-sonal, held by him in trust for ecclesiastical, religious, re-ligious, educational or benevolent, purposes to his successor. The codicil states that as Most Rev. Henry Moeller has been named as his coadjutor, with the right of succession, this property shall pass directly to his possession, with the exception of the books, cases, and charts, which came to the testator from the library of the late Henry J. Richter, which go to the library of the Mt. St. Mary's Seminary of the west. The archbishop gave away practically his whole income to charity. |
