Show CLOUDLAND. In the gay and golden Junetide When the skies were clear and blue, Sailed in ether seas above me Clouds of dazzling, changing hue. Lo! by magic power buildod. Now cloud castles swiftly rise. And in glorious splendor standing. Point their turrets to the skies. J3ut again while I behold them. From their castled forms they change Into bridges thrown o'er chasms, Or to lofty mountain range. Then a crystal lake appeareth. Bearing on its waters bright Tiny skiffs that onward speeding, Sparkle in the golden light. Thus from form to form swift changing, On their journey through the sky, ; First in glory bright they tower, Then in ruined masses lie. Now these soft and fleecy cloudlets Kiss the mountains' burnished crest. And as falls the night's dark curtain, Sink adown the shadowy west. ETHEL ASHTON. St. Mary's Academy. Class '02. |
