Show LAKE CITY ITEMS. , April 6, 1900. Miss Mary Ann Ready returned to her home in Leadville. accompanied by her sister-in-law. Mrs. P. J. Ready, who visited with friends there for about ten days, returning horns in time for Eastor. She was accompanied by her little boy Norman. Mrs. Connors is able to be out again after being laid up with burned feet. ,Mrs. William Patterson is out again after being confined to the houe for several weeks with grippe. v Mrs. Grace White, who has been visiting vis-iting in Pueblo for the past three months, returned last Wednesday, accompanied ac-companied by her two children. Mrs. James Groves of Salida, who was the guest of Mrs. Hugh McLeod for the past three weeks, - returned home today. Dan Farrel returned from a business trip to Boston. V ?- The ladles of the Catholic church gave a calico ball at the Armory April 20 for the benefit of St. Rose's church. It wag a grand success in every respect. re-spect. Mrs. Jerry Brunton, wife of the local conductor, left for Gunnison, where she and her daughter, Miss Myra Ronald, will reside in the future. ' ' Mrs. Dwyer, accompanied by a lady friend and her daughter. Bessie, came in to attend the calico ball., Mr. McCafferty" made a flying visit to Denver, Cripple Creek and Colorado Springs. Rev. Father Healy baptized William Edward Dooly, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Dooly. Rose and Dennis Ackley were the proud sponsors. c Mike McVan has returned from Cripple Crip-ple Creek. G. D. Bardwell and John Mallon w ent to Silverton on business. Miss Annie Talbot, who has been visiting at Mrs. McKay's, left for Cripple Crip-ple Creek last Monday, accompanied bv her mother. Leo Bryan, the little 2i-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. John Carrothers, died of conge.iUon of the bowels. He had been ailing for some time. His mother took him to Pueblo last fall and loft him with his grandma in hopes of his getting strong, and when she brought him home he seemed -quite well. But they were just home a couple of weeks when he took sick and was in bed thirteen days before he died. He was a bright, sweet child, loved by all who knew him, and the idol of the household, house-hold, being the only child.-' Mr. and Mrs. Carrothers brought his remains to Pueblo for burial. They were accompanied accom-panied by, the child's grandmother, Mrs. La' Mear. The child was laid to rest beside his uncle, who preceded him only a few short months. The family fam-ily has the sympathy of the entire community in this their sad bereavement-One more of God's pure flowers Has drooped away and died; One mora sweet, gentle blossom Will now with Him abide. He was papa's pet and treasure, He was mamma's darling child, And his grandma's true companion, With his ways so sweet and mild. So rest in peace, dear little Bryan, Slumber free from every care. Anto Carroll and Joe Holwell" returned re-turned to Lake last Thursday, after an extended trip west. , r Mr. Foster Bogart and Miss Mamie Ackley were married Wednesday evening, even-ing, April 18, at the Catholic parsonage, parson-age, by Rev. Father Healy, pastor of St. Rose's church.' h The wedding was a private affair, onlythe mother, stepfather, step-father, the bridesmaid and groomsman grooms-man witnessing the ceremony. The bride wore -a blue casslmere dress trimmed w(th' white drawn silk and white taffdta ribbon; 'and carried a beautiful poquet of white flowers. The groom wore the conventional black. The bridesmaid; Miss Roselea Ackley. a sister of the bride, wus gowned in a seta-grean organdy trimmed with white ribbon and valencience lace. John Mc-Gargle Mc-Gargle acted as groomsman. Immediately Immedi-ately after the ceremony a wedding supper was served at the home of the bride's .parents. - The table linen used on this occasion was also used at the wedding feaats of the mother, brother and older sister of the bride. The bride is the youngest daughter of Mrs. John Pierce, and is a. handsome and popular popu-lar young lady. ' The gTOom is a young mining man: of sterling -worth. The happy couple have started housekeeping. housekeep-ing. Their many friends here wish all the health, wealth and prosperity that this life affords. ' |
