Show ST. FRANCIS FAIR. The St. Francis de Sales" crurch fair which closed last Saturday night was the most successful one, both socially and financially, ever held by the parish. par-ish. The net proceeds were about $1,500. The hall was crowded every night, everybody greatly enjoying the entertainment, enter-tainment, which was given by some of ehe best talent in he city. Bishop Matz was among the notable visitors. It was a beautiful sight to see his lordship surrounded by the children, signing their lists and exchanging pleasantries with them. Mrs. Charles J. She cordially thanked her generous supporters, and in her sweet and gracious gra-cious way assured the management that under no consideration must they j purchase the dishes, because the par- i ish is poor and she wished to aid it J to the full extent of the handsome sum j her friends had contributed to her sue- ! cessful candidacy. Father Morrin emphatically protested, protest-ed, and after much persuasion the reverend rev-erend gentleman induced Mrs. Dunn to accompany him down town to select se-lect the elegant set he proposed to give her. Miss Kathryn Dameron was the happy winner of the diamond ring and her popularity was shown by the $164 ! which she handed in. Little Annie O'Niel collected $45, which enabled her to carry off the doll ; bride, while $22.50 won Master Lee Russell the suit of clothes. The raffle was postponed until Tuesday Tues-day evening.
