Show GOVERNOR CALLS CONVENTION. Irrigators Asked to Meet in Salt Lake ' on Feb. 26. Appreciating the need of a better system by which the irrigating waters of the state 'may be controlled, together to-gether with the necessity for a more complete organization of the water users of Utah. Governor Wells yester-dav yester-dav issued a call for a convention of irrigators; to meet at the assembly hall in this city on Feb. 28. The call is as follows: " ' " State of Utah. Executive Office. Salt Lake City.' Feb. 4, V.m. Realizing the general disorder which attends at-tends the ownership and use of water; the need for a suitable system of management man-agement under authority of sufficient state law; the important bearing which, proposed national legislation may have upon the progress of the state: the need for a general understanding of the situation situa-tion and for earlv and' united action m the interest of irrigation, which is the fundamental industry of the state, a convention con-vention of the irrigators of the state is iicrebv called to meet in the assembly hall at SriH Lake Citv at 2 o'clock D. m. on Wednesday, Feb. l!fi. 1902. The object of the meeting is to discuss dis-cuss the conditions and, needs of irrigation irriga-tion throughout the state: to consider the advisability of a thorough and active organization and to take such action in the interests of irrigation as . may be deemed expedient. ,- It is suggested that all voting in the convention be by counties, and that each county be entitled to but one vote, irrespective irre-spective of .the number, of delegates it may have in the convention, but .it 's hoped this will not prevent the appointment appoint-ment or attendance of.: such number of delegates from each county as will fully represent the interests, and sentiment of the irrigators throughout every county. It is intended that the meeting shall be a purely business .affair, and ' it is hoped that the delegates .will be appointed with the sole view of securing a meeting of the moft able and experienced irrigators irriga-tors from all parts of the state. Thv countv commissioners, (..of the several counties of the state are hereby requested and 'urged 'to appoint- such number of delegates as will.;in their .opinion insure a proper representation of the irrigation interests In their respective counties.
