Show Warde at St. Mary's Academy. On Tuesday afternoon, the pupils of the academy met in the assembly-room to listen to an informal talk on the plays of Shakespeare, given by Mr. Frederick Warde. The distinguished actor dwelt especially espe-cially upon the beauties, the lessons of high philosophy and deep religious sentiment sen-timent that form the warp and woof of the great dramas, illustrating his points by appropriate selections from "Henry VIII.." "Richard III.," "Hamlet." "Ham-let." "Henry V." and "Julius Caesar." As a finale, Mr: Warde gave a most artistic and masterly rendition of Mark Antony's celebrated speech over Caesar's Cae-sar's corse, delighting and enthusing his auditors, especially the members of the literary class, who have been studying the play since last September. |
