Iewis. buyer of women's ready-to-wear garments for the Walker's Walk-er's store, has gone east, on spring purchasing intent. Mrs. Stella McChrystal will leave next month with her young son for Europe. Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Smedlev, with Miss Smedley and Master Harrv, have gone to California. Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Callahan entertained enter-tained about thirty of their friends in a most delightful manner last Monday evening at their home,. "Lovendale." During the first of the evening sixty-three sixty-three was played, the prizes being awarded to Mrs. Dr. Jones, Mrs. J. D. Crossman. Colonel McMillan and Mr. Cahoon. At 1J o'clock a delicious supper sup-per was served, after which the guests reluctantly departed, having spent a most enjoyable evening. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Long and little son. of Salida, Colo., are the guests, of Mrs. S. G. Hicks. Mrs. Mary Judge and Miss Katherine Judsre left New York City, on Feb.i. 8 on the steamer Celtic, for "a jseventy-four-day cruise in the Mediterranean. They will go up the Nile to Luxor. Karnak and Thebes and will visit Cairo, Cai-ro, Jerusalem, Constantinople, Naples and other points of interest, including the crater of Vesuvius. The marriage of a charming society belle, who is a member of the cathedral cathe-dral parish, will take place shortly after aft-er Easter. Mr. and Mrs. mTe. Mulvey are pleasantly pleas-antly located in their elegant new home on Seventh East. The party given by Mrs. A. T. Kerr last Monday afternoon was one of the very delightful affairs of the week. The event was in honor of Mrs. A. H. Tar-bet Tar-bet to welcome her home from a visit to New York. The rooms were beautifully beau-tifully decorated with a profusion of carnations and ferns the hall with red carnations, the dining room with pink and white carnations, while each guest was presented with a shower bouquet of the fragrant blossoms. . Mrs. Edward Ed-ward McGurrin cleverly carried off the first prize, the second was won by Mrs. Hamilton and the lone hand was awarded to Miss Parker. A very handsome hand-some cut glass dish was presented to Mrs. Tarbet. the guest of honor. Mrs. Kerr was assisted in entertaining by Mrs. Read. Miss Rend and Miss Edith Parker, and about thirty guests were present and all spent a most enjoyable afternoon. The Utopia Card club was delightfully delight-fully entertained on Wednesday afternoon after-noon by Mrs. E. A. Wall nt her elegant Brigham street residence. The rooms were charmingly decorated with carnations car-nations and smPax. Th first prize, a beautiful modern Madonna, was won thy Mrs. Harry Duke; the second, a pretty Japanese cardcase. was won by Miss Edith Parker, and the third, a handsome Indian head plaque, was won by Mrs. Avers. The dub will be entertained by Mrs. S. II. Brink on Wednesday. Feb. lf. Mrs. Tarbet, the popular president of the club, attended the meeting and received a warm welcome wel-come from the ladies of the club. The many friends of Mrs. P. J. Mc-Kenna Mc-Kenna will be pleased to know that her mother, Mrs. Anne Schiebel, and her sisters. Misses Rose and Carrie Schiebel. Schie-bel. have arrived safely. They will make their home with Mrs. P. J. JIo Kenna, 12 Bellevue terrace. |
