At a business' meeting of the Anaconda Anacon-da Catholic club held Saturday evening, even-ing, Dec. 19, thirty -five new members were elected. The constitution and bylaws, by-laws, as prepared by the executive committee, av ere, read and discussed informally. in-formally. They will come up for final adoption at a meeting to be held next Wednesday. The chief business of the meeting was the appointment of a committee cf seven to arrange an entertainment to h given at the club on or about Jan. 1. This will be the formal house warming party, and promises to be a brilliant affair. af-fair. The committee -consists of W. 11. Maioney, Harry Cannon, Joseph Hynes. Rose Le Miere, J. P. McCarthy, Joseph A., Hughes, Thomas MoGowan and Peter Towey. ' The meeting was attended largeiy, and was decidedly enthusiastic en-thusiastic The Anaconda Catholic club is located locat-ed in the old Library building on Cherry street and Third avenue. The object is to furnish suitable quarters where the young can spend a pleasant evening in various .modes of recreation. .The rv.n.i llnor nf t'hp hiiiMinf ic in Ho converted into a gymnasium-, fitted with shower baths and all necessary apparatus Thov?e in charge struck the proper chord in the gymnasium idea. The chance to attain- proficiency in athletics apeals. to learned and unlearned un-learned alike. Besides, being very engrossing, en-grossing, the exercise is beneficial, both from a physical and mental standpoint. A good Catholic club, fuch as the Ara-" con da one promises to be, if fitted with proper gymnasium fixtures, will give any younc man a "mens sana ;n cor-pore cor-pore sano." The upper floor will be converted into reading and reception wm& The - best periodicals will be in evidence, also a billiard and pool table. The present f membership numbers about 110. ! monthly social gatherings will be a pleasant feature of the -mternrisei. The Anaconda Catholic club is the right move actuated by the proper cpirit.
