Last Friday being the first Friday of the month, the members of the Sacred Heart League received Holy Communion Commun-ion in a body. The children's choir will have regular rehearsal on Saturday at 3:30. The parents are requested to see that the . children attend. Miss May Lyncl is another young promoter of the Sacred Heart league, who received the league cross and diploma dip-loma on June 22. Mrs. Sinclair and Miss :ne.lair left last Monday for St. Anthony Falls, Ida., w here they wil spend the summer visiting vis-iting Mrs. William Gray. Charles Symns arrived home from Atchison, Kan., last Thursday. Mrs. Symns remained east on account of the serious illness of her mother. T. J. ' -$- Mrs. Charles Morrison and daughter Lucille left for Copper Gulch last Monday Mon-day evening, where they will spend the summer with Mr. Morrison. n The shocking death of young John Kelly, son of Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Kelly, in the railroad wreck in Montana caused much sorrow here among many friends. ' Mr. Edward McGurrin and son and Mrs. Mary Trumbo left for San Francisco Fran-cisco last Sunday. They will be the guests of Col. Isaac Trumbo for the next three months. Miss Stella Salisbury was the hostess of a very elaborate luncheon last week. Her guests Mere the Misses Sherman. .Kinney, Mary Kinney, Laura Sherman and Edna Donnellan. Mis Lillian McGarry of Beaver, Utah, is in the city attending the summer sum-mer school at the University. Mis McGarry Mc-Garry for the past three years has been teaching school in Beaver. -- Alan Lovey, the Herald artist, left Sunday morning to attend the Democratic Demo-cratic convention at Kansas City. His character sketches sent from there are viewed with interest in the Daily Herald. Her-ald. Mrs. David Keith entertained a party par-ty of friends at Park City last week. The party visited the Silver King and Ontario mines while there and returned enthusiastic over the delights of the trip. On Tuesday evening Mr. Clarence Mc-Cornick Mc-Cornick entertained at the Alta club in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Cheeseman of Denver. His guests were Mr. and Mrs. IJ. S. Murray, Miss Murray and Mr. D. H. Peery, jr. Hosts of friends mourn the death of Andrew C. Brixen. He was one of the best known men of this city, being for , many years a leading hotel man. To his wife and family all sympathy is extended ex-tended in their bereavement. Those in charge of ' the Children's Musicale wish to extend their thanks to Mr. M. E. Mulvey for so kindly donating do-nating the use of the New Grand theater, the-ater, on last Friday evening, and to Mr. John Thomas for the artistic ar- I rangement of the stage. I Miss Flora Newcome of the Iliff Methodist church and Mr. J. A. Augustus Augus-tus of the Central church choir, sang an "Ave Maria" by Lamblllotte at St. Mary's last Sunday. Miss New-come's New-come's sweet light soprano voice and the sympathetic baritone of Mr. Augustus blended perfectly, and Lambillotte's beautiful duet was never beter rendered. St. Mary's congregation congrega-tion deeply appreciate the kindly feeling feel-ing shown by the members of the other churches in so kindly tendering their services. The prisoners at the Utah State penitentiary pen-itentiary had a very pleasant Fourth, thanks to Mrs. J. Rumel and Miss Margaret Mar-garet Harley, who arranged a very fine literary and musical programme for the occasion. Special mention must be made of the recitations by Mrs. Penrose, Pen-rose, Miss Ada McNamee, and little Huldarose Brown. The following people took part in the programme: Mrs. J. Rumel. Misses McNamee, Bragg, Harley Har-ley and Brown; Messrs. R. B. Quay, H. H. MeCorkle, Raleigh, Olsen Hudson and Dr. Chandler.
