Show AN IRISH VIEW OF THE NEW WOMAN. A writer in a Dublin paper says:! The New Woman is becoming newer, even in America. According to a New York paper, what is called the "good-fellow girl," has arrived in America. She wears, it appears, short skirts, whip pockets in them, and heavy yellow shoes; she has a mannish stride, takes long steps, swings her arms, and wears "a polka-dot four-in-hand neck scarf and a white Fedora hat." She talks horsey, drinks cock-tails, swings a golf stick, gets a nut-brown tan on her arms, and has command of the entire vocabulary of slang. She knows all about men and sports, but would not know how to hold a baby if her life depended on it. She does all this to earn the title of "good fellow," under the impression that it makes her more popular with men. It Is to' be hoped it does not. In any case, we pray fervently fer-vently that this kind of New Woman will never visit Ireland. |
