Nathan Smith was up from Garrison Monday. Colonel Samuel Scott visited Helena a day or two last week. William Norton of Stuart was in Deer Lodge Saturday. Colonel W. L. Aylesworth went up to Butte on business Monday evening. Charles Aspling. jr., is down from Anaconda on a visit to relatives and friends. Colonel Tom McTague returned last Thursday evening from a week's visit to Helena, Anaconda and Butte. Mr. and Mrs. E. Scharnikow expect to take a trip through the National park the latter part of next month. Mrs. Dr. A. H. Mitchell and son Harold Har-old came down from the Springs Fri- day- -a- N Dr. O. Y. Kennedy of Anaconda came down Friday with quite a party of others to attend the commencement exercises of St. Mary's academy. Judge B. F. BrowrTof Garrison was in Deer Lodge Friday, having come In the night, before on his way home from Butte. Mrs. E. L. Reagan of Butte, who has been visiting Mrs. A. J. Calcott on College Col-lege hill, returned to her home Saturday. Satur-day. Simon Leonard, Jr., of Gold Creek came up Friday and that evening attended at-tended the closing exercises of St. Mary's academy. Mrs. H. A. McPherson returned home Saturday evening from a nearly a week's visit to old-time friends at Drummond and vicinity. Aubrey Robinson came down from , Butte Sunday to see his sisters, who departed that evening for New York on a pleasure trip. Miss Mary Stackpole arrived from Butte Friday wheTe she had taught in the public schools' the past term, and will spend her vacation here. Conrad Kohrs and family of Helena are expected here about the first of July to spend a month or more at their home just north of Deer Lodge. Tom Shugrue and Joe Wells stopped off in Deer Lodge last Thursday on their way home to Garnet, having been in attendance a tthe state convention in Butte. Mrs. A. D. Peckand son DeW'itt arrived ar-rived home from the east last Saturday Satur-day evening. Mrs Peck has been on a visit to her old home in Columbus. O., and is much improved in h'th. D- Witt has been attending the Iowa State Agricultural college at Ames. Both are pleased to get back to Montana. Mon-tana. P. McGurk. one of the best citizens of Philipsburg, accompanied by his wife, came over last Friday and that evening attended the commencement exercises of St. Mary's academy. Mrs. Haywood, formerly Miss Virginia Vir-ginia Douglass of Anaconda, came down Sunday for a short visit with friends. Mr. Haywood is now in New York on mining business. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Whitworth returned Thursday from a short visit to Missoula. Mis-soula. They were fairly loaded down with lovely flowers that friends had given them. Oscar Bielenberg, who has been attending at-tending college at Faribault, Minn., the past term, returned home last Saturday and is now a guest of his sister, Mrs. Warren E. Evans and family. $ M. L. E. Edwards arrived last Sunday evening from his home, Baltimore, Md., and will remain several weeks as a guest of his brother and wife. Rev. Mr. Settle came down from j Butte Monday, accompanied by his wife, three sons, two young lady friends of the family and Mr. Stout, for an 1 outing till Friday at Rock Creek lake. They were met at the train with a conveyance con-veyance by Pat Evans, who took them out that afternoon. They are well ' equipped with guns, fishing tackle and camping outfit, and al formed a very jolly party. Mr. Evans and family are visiting them today. Miss Norma Robinson and sister Irene, accompanied by their uncle. W. M. Biggs of Helena, left on last Sunday Sun-day evening's North Coast limited for New York City, where they expect to meet their aunt, Mrs. Biggs, on her return re-turn from an extended visit to Paris and other continental places of interest. After spending some time in sightseeing sightsee-ing in New York the entire party will enjoy a short season at Atlantic City before returning to Montana. The many old-time friends of Miss Nellie Withers, who taught school in Deer Lodge public schools sixteen or seventeen years ago, were much pleased to have a visit from her several days the later part of last week. She has for several years been serving as deason-ess deason-ess for the Episcopal church in Montana, Monta-na, with headquarters at Sheridan. She visited Mr. and Mrs. II. R. Whitehill in Anaconda Saturday, and Monday ment to Avon with Bishop Brewer and others, where the bishop held services that evening. Ts , There was a most happy gathering at the home of Mr. and Mrs. N. J, Bielenberg Bielen-berg last Saturday evening. It was a surprise party, the occasion being Mrs. Bilenberg's birthday. The weather being be-ing fine and warm, the stormers stationed sta-tioned themselves out on the lawn and under the grand old trees. Mrs. Bielenberg Bielen-berg was away from home when the stormers surprised her. It was a fitting tribute to that highly esteemed and popuar lady, and it is not necessary to say it was fully appreciated and enjoyed en-joyed by her. Games were played amid much merriment and refreshments partaken par-taken of during the evening. |
