Show I BOISE, IDA. - - L t On Tuesdav evening of last week Mrs. M. A. Swift delightfully enter- tained the members cf the junior choir J of the Catholic church at Bishop Glo- rieux's residence on Ninth and Hays streets. The event being made an ap- preciation of their faithful attendance in the choir during the evening services held at the church during Lent. When all had gathered in the spa- t cious parlors of the beautiful home of the bishop. Miss Paddy Swift distrib- uted the guessing game, it being one brought home from Leland Stanford university, and soon intense silence J prevailed while all were in profound thought studying the answers. When drawing for the prize, Miss Anna Ricks came out the lucky winner, and the x consolation went to Miss Finnegan. All were taken by surprise when Mrs. J Swift announced that the dining car T was now in waiting and would stop but 4. twenty minutes before leaving for the next station. Then all retired to the dining room, where delicious refresh- J merits were awaiting them, and were J seated at one large table, red carna- tions and smilax forming the center- piece. The Misses Katie McNamara and 4 Anna Finnegan delighted all with a duet. With Mrs. Swift at t he piano, each took part in popular airs. The chorus. "The Holy City," was the favorite fa-vorite of the evening. All went home highly pleased with the treat, and the pleasant evening will long be remembered. Tom McGuire, the well . known mining min-ing man of the upper camps, returned Monday from Huntington. He says that town is the livest one in eastern Oregon. |
