Show C of C Meeting Scheduled Herewith is presented an open letter from the Preston Chamber of Commerce to the people of Franklin County. The letter reads as follows: On Thursday, September 19, 1940, at 7:30 p. m., the Preston Chamber of Commerce will hold a meeting in the basement of the court house, for the purpose of considering the reorganizing of the present pres-ent Chamber of Commerce into a Franklin County Chamber of Commerce. We feel in as much as the Chamber serves all the people of the county that 'they should be represented on it's board and have some say in. what is the best things to do for the good of all people concerned. If this is accomplished accomplish-ed it will give each community a membership on the board of governors of the new organization. The Preston Chamber of Commerce has reached a point where it cannot effectively function any long'er without the assistance of everybody concerned. con-cerned. You realize that this organization is one of the most important civic organizations in this county. coun-ty. It is through it that all worth while things are obtained for the county, such as, new industries, roads, and other projects supported by the Federal Government. The Citizens of Franklin County can not afford not to support a Chamber of Commerce. Com-merce. We urgently request your presence at this meeting meet-ing for a thorough discussion of this problem and a better understanding of the matters involved.
