VOTE FOR Serge C. Ballif For County Assessor At Primary Election Sept. 13 c A $71,000.00 Sheriff's Dept. EIGHT LONG YEARS AGO Sheriff Stowell assumed the position as Sheriff. He is a good man and has done a splendid job enforcing the law. He is to be congratulated. BUT . You taxpayers have paid plenty to get this job done. Approximately $71,000.00 it has cost you to do that, of which approximately $14,400.00 goes for the Sheriff's personal salary. The first year he took office, he ; was granted by the commission ; ,""" "X his request of $5,275.00 to run his , - . , department. Each year, steadily " f for EIGHT LONG YEARS, he has f raised the antie until 1938 he was ' - .-v., granted the fabulous sum of ; , $10,095.00 by the commission to f "V enforce the law for us. During his eight years of reign, approxi- , ' mately 100 increase has occur- - -red. ' , f ' ' J He is asking for a third term t ' which would mean that by the 1 time of term expiration, should : L ) j he be elected, he would, in all j " ' J '" i probability, be requesting of the jf taxpayers through the county f j , commission, approximately $15,000 I t J ,V a year or $10,000 a year more - ( if than when he first took office. ' ' I ;' ' I w. Z i I " TAXPAYERS, you are the ones $ f- K , "f that pay this unnecessary bill. i LET'S HAVE A NEW SHERIFF! f p;t ' Two terms is long enough for any f - if one man. " ' m'r ' - " I am a young man 38 years of age and a life-long Demo crat and strong supporter of the American tradition that two terms is enough, as adopted by the Democrats Committee four years ago. I have had considerabh business experience and also previous law enforcemem experience. I can definitely pledge to you and als( make the statement that these fabulous and enormoui expenses are not necessary. I would appreciate youi vote and consideration in electing me to this office.
