The segregated tax syj tem, eliminates all real estate and tangible personal," property from any State tax, and leaves this fj&Jdle for local taxing units, such as cities, counties, local Bchool districts. It is the only system which gives real) estate any substantial relief. This system will alsf jliminate the unnecessary duplication of authority r and expense which now exists between the local tax- ing authorities and the State Tax Commission, forutP eliminates the State Tax Commission so far as rea'te estate and tanglible personal property is concerned, and thereby many thousands of dollars of unnecessary state expense will be saved to the taxpayers. P SECOND there are some statutes with reference the rights and powers of cities and towns which need'1 to be strengthened and clarified. For example thj right of a city to shut off the city water, where tH : owner or tenant has failed or refused to pay, and re-i: fusal on the part of the city to turn the water baL1;! on, until all back water rentals are paid. Logan Citjta has claimed this right for the past eleven years undef'8 City ordinances built on an old statute. That right o)A Logan is now being challenged in Court. It is verj1 'important in the interest of the City water depofft- ment that this old statute be amended and clarifieci ' so as to clearly give that right to cities. j 1 THIRLS I am a member of the Legislative Commit tee of the Utah State Municipal League. This organ- w ization sponsored my nomination, and is desirous my being in the Legislature this winter to assist i the enactment of its Legislative program for the prof tection and benefit of the municipalities of our Statr Is. FOURTH The expense of our State government has.' grown by leaps and bounds, until it has practicaKj doubled the last 20 years, and is now in the excess o:t $27,000,000.00. I believe every tax payer is in favM1" of having this enormous expense reduced. If elected' I shall do all in my power to reduce this expense byi reducing and abolishing many commissions and offic holders who are really unnecessary, but constantly increase the force in their offices, and thus contin-l ually add to the burden and expense of the tax payey. The primary law is intended to give the peopleis, the right to make their own choice. This privilege' ' should be jealously guarded and exercised by evefjp' citizen going to the polls on primary election day,! September 13th, and casting his or her vote for thlr man or woman whom the voter believes is best quali fied, and will carry out the wishes and desire of thf people. (Paid Political Adv.)
