Show Two Youths i Held For Federal Men PRESTON, Idaho Two high school youths were being held in Franklin county Jail Tuesday, pending arrival of federal authorities authori-ties from Butte, Mont. It was indicated in-dicated that charges of violation of the federal Dyer act probably will be preferred against the two, who identified themselves as Edward Ed-ward Moody, 17, of Byron, Wyo., and Martin Vance, 17, of Ventura Cal. ' They allegedly admitted stealing a car belonging to Lloyd M. Knight of Nephi, Utah, Sunday night between 10 and 11 o'clock, driving to Ogden, Utah, where they refueled the car with gasoline gas-oline stolen on Ogden bench, and then driving to Preston, where they were captured after stealing five gallons of gasoline from a car belonging to A. C. Larsen, Monday night. Mr. Larsen at 11 p. m. Monday notified local police that persons were stealing gasoline from his automobile at Fouth South and Second West streets. State Patrolman Mose Geddes and Chief of Police A. T. Merrill investigated the report, and as they approached the two fled, Moody driving away in the stolen car. He drove a short distance, and was arrested when he returned re-turned to locate his companion. The officers searched for Vance but failed to locate him until 9 a. m. Tuesday, when Patrolman Geddes arrested him on U. S. highway 91, about one mile south of Oxford. The youths said they were on their way to Idaho Falls, where they planned to abandon the stolen car. |
