Show PROCLAMATION FOR BIG GMIE HUNT IN CACHE Commissioner Cook Sets Forth Rules and Regulations Regula-tions Governing Elk and Deer Shoot. Commissioner N. B. Cook of the state fish and game department has supplied this office with a I copy of his proclamation governing the Elk and Deer hunt in Utah this fall. Parts of the proclamation proclama-tion pertaining to the hunt in the Cache National forest are here given: A PROCLAMATION Under the authority of Section 30-0-54, Revised Statutes of Utah 1933, as amended by Chapter 27, Session Laws of Utah 1933, we, the State Board of Big Game Control Con-trol and State Game Refuge Com- mittee, do hereby declare and proclaim the following rules and j regulations pertaining to special! hunts for the taking of big game in the State of Utah during the fall of 1938 and do hereby define! the boundries of the State Game I Preserves affected by the hunts ' proclaimed herein. Such rules andj regulations shall in no way effect; the regular open season for buck! deer as prescribed by law, Whereas, after due investigation, j we, the State Game Refuge Com-j mittee and the State Board ofi Big Game Control, find that elk have increased in numbers to an extent that a limited number may be taken without detriment to the elk herds of Utah. Now therefore, we do hereby proclaim and declare that the open (Continued on Page Eight) . westerly along the right fork of Logan canyon to Logan river; thence westerly along the Logan River to the Cache National Forest For-est Boundry; thence south along said boundry to the mouth of Blacksmith Fork Canyon, place of beginning. Provided that 100 permits per-mits shall be sold at the checking station to be established in Blacksmith Black-smith Fork and 100 permits shall be sold at the checking station to be established in Logan canyon. CACHE STATE GAME PRESERVE PRE-SERVE All of the Cache Game Preserve shall be open for the hunting of buck deer during the regular open season, except that portion lying within the following described boundaries: Beginning at a point where Herd Hollow intersects inter-sects the left fork of Blacksmith Fork canyon; thence northerly along the Herd- Hollow-Cowley canyon road to the right fork of Logan canyon; thence easterly along the Logan-Meadowville road to Saddle Creek; thehce southerly and westerly along Saddle Creek to its intersection with Herd Hollow, Hol-low, the place of beginning; also there shall be no shooting in that portion of the Cache Game Preserve Pre-serve ' lying within one-half mile of either side of the highway in i Logan canyon below the right hand fork. . COOK Chairman, State Board of Big Game Control and State Game Refuge Committee Proclamation For Big Game Hunt in Cache (Continued from Page One) season during which elk may be legally killed in the State of Utah during the year 1938 shall be from November 1 to 9th, bothj dates inclusive, and the rules and; regulations governing this hunt, j the issuance of permits, the number num-ber and sex of animals to be kill-1 ed, the territory in which hunting; may be done, etc., shall be as follows: Tlxat the Fish and Game Commissioner, Com-missioner, as chairman of the Board, shall issue 505 permits for the killing of elk; that such per. mits shall be sold for $10 each . to residents of Utah on aE dis-j ' tricts and for $50 to non-residents pn all districts; 'that not more . than one permit shall be issued to each person, which permit shall not be transferable nor shall such permit be cancelled after October . 25, 1938; and that : the revenue . derived from the sale of such per-rmits per-rmits shall be turned into the Fish ' and Game Fund of ..the State of Utah; that applications for permits per-mits shall be in the office of the Fish and Game Commissioner not-later not-later than 5:00 p. m. on October 5, 1938; that (all applications shall state choice of territory and sex of anuria! desired to be taken, and shall toe accompanied by a certified certi-fied check or money order to cover the fee; that individual applications applica-tions only shall be considered for all districts; that if more applications appli-cations are received for a given territory than the number of per-niits per-niits allotted to such territory, each application shall be given a number num-ber and a slip with a corresponding correspond-ing number shall be placed in a receptacle from which the allotted amount of numbers shall be drawn and permits then issued for the applications with the corresponding correspond-ing numbers; said drawing to take place at 2 p, m. on October 11, 1938; that all hunters must check Jn at canips which shall be designated desig-nated by the Fish and Game Department; De-partment; provided that all hunters hunt-ers must check out with one of the State Wardens and all elk must be tagged by them and that all hunting must be done under the direct supervision and regulations regula-tions of the Fish and Game Department De-partment in cooperation with the JJ. S. Forest Service. Provided that all places designated desig-nated on which hunting shall be allowed are hereby declared temporary tem-porary State Game Preserves for the period of the elk hunt and all firearms other than those carried pn a permit are strictly prohibited and that no gun smaller than a ,270 calibre shall be used to hunt elk.. Provided further that the Fish and Game Commissioner, as chairman chair-man of the Board, shall apportion the permits issued for the killing of elk as follows: CACHE DISTRICT that 50 permits per-mits for the taking of elk of either sex in the area north of Green canyon shall be issued. (Under (Un-der authorization of the 1937 proclamation pro-clamation 40 permits have been issued and not cancelled or withdrawn, with-drawn, therefore, only ten additional addi-tional permits shall be issued in this district. 1937 hunt on this area postponed.) Permits shall also be issued for 40 prong-horned bulls and 35 cows from any part of the Cache Forest between Blacksmith Fork Canyon and Logan Lo-gan Canyon. CACHE DISTRICT that 200 permits be issued for the killing of hornless deer on the following described area: Beginning at the mouth of Blacksmith Fork canyon, thence easterly to the left fork of Blacksmith Fork canyon; thence easterly to Herd- Hollow- Cowley Canyon road; thence northerly along said road to the right-hand fork of Logan canyon; thence |
