Show The Lucky 13,000 By A. Reside r ' The Cache American is quite right, we should be thankful that1 there are so many men and or- j ganizations working for public j safety. But let me ask: Isn't driving safely just a mat ter of common courtesy? The road hog just an ill mannered fool? The speedster one lacking in consideration con-sideration for others? The traffic blocker who drives alorig fifteen or twenty in zones where the average av-erage rate is 35 to 45, is he a careful driver, or mearly a misguided mis-guided hipocrite who would force everybody to his pace? What about the smart guy who dashes from the intersection, leaping out as the ight goes green i and stopping with a squeak of brakes because he made it to the next light too soon? What about the triple parker or the lads who attempt to fix a tire while still parked on the highway? What about the two! drivers who sit side by side in their cars while they talk These are some of the chief causes, of accidents and in every one is a discourteous fool. Don't you think that if the colleges col-leges would have a course in cour-j tesy, where it is certainly badly J needed, there would next year be another lucky 13,000? Don't you think that If you and I, all of us, would practice a little common courtesy that accidents ac-cidents would be few and far be-, tween? I We'll never have the respect for the law we should have until we have more respect for those enforcing it, but we might at least be intelligent to have a little respect for the rights of one another. |
