Show Premier Dairy Cows to be Shown At Coast Fair SAN FRANCISCO The National Nation-al Dairy Show, premier milch cow classic of America, will be held at the Golden Gate International Exposition on Treasure Island in San Francisco in 1939. Organized 30 years agot the National Na-tional Dairy Association will bring its annual show West for the first time next year, Exra J. Fjeldsted, Chief of the Exposition's Division of Livestock, reported Monday as directors of the dairy association accepted the California World's Fair bid. Cash prizes totalling $36,500 will be awarded together with a score of special premiums and trophies, representing the largest sum ever offered In dairy show competition, Fjelsted said. The premium list will include five breeds, Holstein, Jersey, Guernsey, Guer-nsey, Ayrshire and Brown Swiss. A feature of the Treasure ' Island classification arrangement provides for State and provincial herds of ail breeds. Emphasis will be placed on junior jun-ior activities and judging contests, too, the Exposition Chief said. Simultaneous with the dairy show announcement, Fjelsted reported re-ported the Exposition will defray costs of shipping four cars of select se-lect and representative California taUle to the National Dairy Show .tich will be held at the Ohio State Fair Grounds at Columbus this year. Greene, Chairman of the Dairy Committee of the Exposition, Exposi-tion, formally announced a co-c-.T2tiV3 dairy exhibit will be held ail ciuring the California World's Fair, the display and demonstration demonstra-tion to be held in the Palace of Foods, Beverages and Agriculture. Latest methods of milking, together togeth-er with other phases of the dairy industry will be shown. Milk foods and milk byproducts will be on exhibit and the pasteurization and preservation of milk will be demonstrated. |
