Show 'Financial Aid Is Assured County Giving assurance that Sanpete county would share liberally through the loansi by the Reconstruction Finance Fin-ance corporation, June Metcalf, chairman chair-man of the board of county commissioners, commis-sioners, enlightened the members of the Gunnison Lions club at the bimonthly bi-monthly luncheon-meeting held at the Wistaria cafe Thursday evening of last week. After reviewing the plans .by which the county can participate in the loan, Mr. Metcalf stated that applications had already been placed and that the applications had been approved. The funds, he stated, will be solely for the relief of the poor and needy, and for those who have sustained losses that would deprive them of proper food and clothing during the winter. The money will be available iot immediate use. The policy for distribution, Mr. Metcalf stated, will be through a medium me-dium of work. Plans have been made for further road improvement and other work that will furnish employment employ-ment for those in dire need and through this policy it is intended that none shall suffer. The new horseshoe court, which has been an attraction for all citizens, and which was established by the local lo-cal Lions, will hereafter be closed on the Sabbath day, and during week days will close promptly at 11 o'clock at night. After the closing times had been discussed, a vote was taken and every club member voted for the movement. Routine matters were taken tak-en care of during the brief business session. The entertaining feature of the meeting was clever readings by Miss LuDene Jensen, an accomplished member of theJ high school faculty. |
