Show Hour Concert Given By University Band Students and' faculty of the Gunnison Gunni-son Valley high school, as well as a few others who had been informed, enjoyed a rare treat Monday afternoon after-noon when the University of Utah band made a stop at the school and gave an hour's concert. The band, under un-der the direction of Clarence Hawkins, Haw-kins, rendered several musical selections selec-tions and during the brief stay were warmly received and the numbers given giv-en were highly praised. There ara some 45 members in the band and after leaving Salt Lake early Monday morning made their first stop at Wasatch academy, where a concert was given. Manti, also on the itinerary itiner-ary for a concert, was favored with a few selections. Other stops on the program, while enroute to Los Angeles, An-geles, were Richfield, Cedar City, St. George, Bunkerville, and Las Vegas, Nev. The group of musicians will be present with the University of Utah football squad, when the latter will clash with the University of Southern California Saturday in a pre-season football classic. The band members are traveling in one of the large buses operated by the Union Pacific company and comprise a happy bunch of warriors. On their trip they are visiting Zion National park and the Mt. Carmel tunnel, and while in Nevada Nev-ada they will see the Boulder dam, giving a concert for the workmen and officials immediately following the sightseeing trip. |
