Show Giiiiners-Ephraim Play Here Sunday Sunday' Schedule. Ephraim at Gunnison. Fairview at Manti. Mt. Pleasant at Spring City. Moroni at CCC. Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock will see the Gunners in their first game of the season, when they will engage the Ephraim boys on the local diamond. dia-mond. The locals have been "doing a turn" at practice and feel fit to take the last year's champs for a turnover turn-over and a victory. Already the Gunners Gun-ners have missed two league games, due to stormy weather, and the visitors visit-ors will have a slight edge, maybe, as Ephraim has been able to pull her two games. May 12 the Gunners were to play the ' CCC of Mt. Pleasant here, and last Sunday had a league game set . for Mt. Pleasant at Mt. Pleasant, but due to heavy rains both games were called off. Gunnison as a whole has a better team entering the Sanpete league th's year. While many of the players wearing Gunner suits last year will be seen in the line-up this year, and with new recruits, already a better class of playing has been evidenced in the practice games. Last year the Gunners were members mem-bers of the Southern Utah Baseball league, but failed to make much of a showing. The long trips to communities com-munities in the southern league proved prov-ed expensive, and for this reason the players, in one voice, decided to become be-come affiliated with the Sanpete county league. For years Gunnison citizens had loyally supported the home boys, both financially and morally, but the past couple of years there has been a laxity to this end. If the citizens will give their support, as in other cities, then Gunnison will have better bet-ter players and will be afforded the opportunty to see high-clas baseball. |
