Show John W. Edwards Called to Rest Following a lingering illness of several months and a severe suffering suffer-ing for two weeks, John W. Edwards, widely known throughout Southern Utah, died at his home in this city Monday morning at five o'clock. Death was not unexpected due to the , serious illness of Mr. Edwards and when the end came he was surrounded surround-ed by members of the family. Some two years ago Mr. Edwards was stricken, but his malady, kidney and bladder complications, was not regarded re-garded as serious, and he was able to attend to his business affairs until un-til two months ago, when he was forced forc-ed to his bed. Since that time he grew worse, notwithstanding every medical attention was given, and Monday morning his eyes were closed in ptmal sleep. John Edwards was a native of Utah, and was born at Ephraim, December De-cember 10, 1864. When but a youngster young-ster he moved, with his family, to Levan, where he spent his boyhood days. In later years he removed to Sterling and was married to Mary Rosenberg of Mt. Pleasant, Novem-br Novem-br 2nd 1885. He spent a few years at Mayfield whei'e he followed the rnprcan.tile business. Some thirty vears ago Mr. Edwards removed to Gunnison end had since made this plopo. his permanent home. He operated oper-ated the Co-operative store for a period of twenty years, and through this business enternrise he made hosts of friends. After disposing of his mercantile business he engaged in the insurance business and for the nnsf, tor, vears he followed that line of business. S"rvii'inof Mr. Edwards are the widow Mary Edwards, five daugh- ters. Mrs. F. J. Erieksou of G"nni-sn. G"nni-sn. M. Cb'de Tuft. Los Awreles, Mrs. G. G. Light, San Francisco, Mrs. J. W. Hofheins. and Miss Ber-ddla Ber-ddla Edwards of Salt Lake, J. H. Edwards, San Francisco and Clifton and Max Edwards of Gunnison S. O. Edwards, an onlv brother, and who was here from his home in Los Angeles An-geles when Mr. Edwards passed away, and fifteen grandchildren, are slso lft as survivors. All the children had arrived from thir resnective homes last evening to attend the funeral which is to bs h"ld at one o'clck todav. Services w'll be conducted at the Rlief Society hall and Bishop Leslie Kidman will ' be in charge. |
