Show ! For Meditation I oooooo By LEONARD A. BARRETT g TEAM WORK THE writer was listening to a symphony orchestra. In the middle mid-dle portion of a very difficult number num-ber the leader signaled the orchestra to cease playing. The reason was not discovered by the audience until one of the violinists began to tune his instrument. Ooubtiess but few persons per-sons in the audience noticed the defect de-fect but the trained ear of the lender heard the discord at once. The success of an orchestra depends upok the effect of each instrument. To create harmony every Instrument must be in tune. Friction is like discords in music. It blocks the machinery. An organization organ-ization is composed of individuals to v horn has been assigned definite tr.sks. Slighted workmanship on the p:irt of one of the g:oup weakens the whole product. The task may be to drive only one rivet, which seemingly unimportant in itself, is very essential essen-tial to the efficiency of the finished product. Team work dem;.rds that all persons per-sons mutually responsible for any task do their work with the spirit of honest workmanship and also in keeping keep-ing with the spirit and purpose of the organization which employs them. Team work requires unanimity of purpose. The majority must rule. To accomplish this end the rights of the minority many times may have to be sacrificed. A house divided against itself cannot stand. A chain is ao stronger than its weakest link. A person may be only one unit in an organization, or-ganization, but, he Is that ONE unit. Persons create society. Society is dependent de-pendent upon the Individual. The contribution which every individual makes to his economic and social environment en-vironment is tremendously important. In a certain sense it is true that no person is ever lost in the crowd. (fc). 1323. Western Newspaper Union.) O |
