Show Great War Picture Captivates Audience Realistic pictures of the great world war, shown at the Casino theatre thea-tre last evening, charmed and enthralled en-thralled an appreciative audience and the patrons attending declared the r picture one "of the most, thrilling and entertaining ever shown in Gunnison. Other pictures of the same nature have been shown here, but the "Men of Purpose," according to those attending at-tending the first performance, was by far, the best ever seen here. The . picture, "Men of Purpose" is a remarkable spectacle and a story based on the records and reports of the genrals in command of the allied armies. The twenty or more scene3 shown are direct from the battlefield and shows many of the bitter conflicts con-flicts between the warring nations. Seen in the picture are the battles at Vimy Ridge, Meuse-Argonne, Ar-gonne Ar-gonne Forest, Chateau Thierry, the drive of the Paive against the Aus-trians, Aus-trians, the huge Zeppelins and the air craft of the allied armies soaring ' over the battlefields and in fact a complete review, taken from actual actions of the world war, with the exceptions of the slaying of Archduke Ferdinand and his wife. A whole story could be written on the merits of the giant ten-reel picture; pic-ture; . The thrilling scenes, the men in action, the movement of a great army of men through rough country, across torrential rivers and through boggy and muddy lands, gives one a vivid conception of what the "doughboys"- endured. The great war picture is being presented pre-sented by the Gunnison Guard Mount post 104, American Legion, and the crowds thati gathered last night indicates indi-cates that tonight's performance will be equally received. Tonight, Thursday, Thurs-day, is the last performance here. Gunnison Boy Scouts have become interested in the success of the great, war picture and the lads are out today to-day urging citizens not to miss the wonderful show. The scouts, through selling tickets, will be able to enrich their treasury and the cause can be helped by a liberal response from Gunnison citizens. |
