Show Local Postmaster Asks Cooperation According to instructions received this week by Postmaster Leo N. Gled-hill Gled-hill from the postmaster general there will be no delivery of mail on Christmas Christ-mas day, except special delivery letters let-ters and parcels and Special Handling mail, which will be delivered Christmas Christ-mas day as usual. Postmasters have been ordered to suspend all work at 12 o'clock midnight, mid-night, December 24, except to retain on duty on Christmas day only such employee's as are required to make the regular holiday dispatch of first class mail to the trains and to receive, re-ceive, but not to work, incoming mail from the trains. There will be no city delivery, village delivery, or rural delivery de-livery on Christmas day. The order says, however, that this is to be in the nature of an experiment, the success or failure of which will probably pro-bably guide future action. The same order received from the postmaster general asks the postmasters post-masters to impress more than ever this year the necessity of mailing early, in view of the fact that there will be no delivery of mail Christmas day. The cooperation of newspapers, schools, theatres;, chambers of commerce com-merce and; all .other agencies for publicity pub-licity is therefore asked. Coope:ra,te mail early. |
