Show Issues Circular On Sugar Beet Insects The Utah Agricultural Experiment Station has just issued a circular on insects injurious to the sugar-beet. This publication is entitled "The More Important Insects Injurious to the Sugar Beet in Utah" and is by I. M. Kawley, Station Entomoligist. The circular considers the insect pests of sugar-beets under two main ' heads. In the first group are treaat- ed those insects that feed on the tops of foliage of sugar-beets, while in the second group are placed those insects in-sects that feed on the roots of the beet. In the first group are included includ-ed the sugar-beet leafhopper, sugar-beet sugar-beet webworm, sugar-beet armyworm grasshoppers, beet leaf-miner, false chinch bug, flea-beetles, and blister beetles. In the second group (those insects that feed on the roots of sugar sug-ar beets) are included the sugar-beet root aphid, sugar-beet root maggot, white grubs, and wireworm. Each insect is described in detail with a complete life history and methods me-thods of applying control measures. Pictures to help in the identification of the different insects are given.
