Show Mayor Declares For Clean-Up Week In another column of the News will be found a proclamation, issued by Mayor Christiansen, declaring the week of April 11-16 as clean-up week in Gunnison. The proclamation is clear and the desired impart is puc i squarely to the patriotic citizens of j this city a general clean-up thac ! has never been really put over heie. ! The time is opportune. And there is plenty of corrections to be made a- ' I remedied if the city is to be sanita , j beautiful and healthful. i The accumulation of debris during I the winter months, much of which can be found at the homes of the c:t-izens, c:t-izens, remains intact and is not or..., an eye-sore, but a detraction from the beauty. There are pens, corrals, outhouses and rubbish breeders of flies. There is the uncared-for lawns, broken down fences, unpainted houses. hous-es. The disease breeding places should be banished at once, and the, bcautification of the homes should be foremost in the minds of the people peo-ple who would enjoy life to the fullest full-est extent. All next week will bo devoted to this work and let it be thorough and far-reaching. Through the efforts of the Relief society members of the Gunnison ward, much has been accomplished this spring at various homes and public places. There is work for men, women and children and -when all efforts are combined there is every ev-ery reason that Gunnison will pass muster before the most critical. Remember all next week Clean Up Week. Do your part and insist that your neighbor cooperate. |
