Show Christmas Package Gladdens Heart A portion of the Christmas packages pack-ages which were prepared by the Legion and Auxiliary members of ' Gunnison and foivvarded to the chair- man of the state hospital auxiliary! chairman, found their way to Walla Walla, Wash., where tire V. S. V. j hospital is located. Mrs. II. W. Cherry, president of the local auxiliary, auxili-ary, received the following letter from Homer Searl, a veteran of the late war and who is confined at the hospital at Walla Walla: "Dear Friends: I sure was surprised sur-prised to get these fine presents from such good people. You must have read my mind because I was wishing I had a razor with which to shave myself when able. I never did believe be-lieve in wishes but this one beat me. Well I sure appreciated every thing I got they come in good play. And the cigarettes just hit the spot when a man is broke and nothing coming in. And also the writing paper was worth while and I am using it to write this letter. While this isn't much of a letter it shows that I fully appreciate what you ladies have sent me. Wishing for you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, I am, Homer Sear! V. S. V. hospital. No. 75, Walla Walla, Wash." |
