He served as adjutant of the department from the fall of 1920 until his transfer to national na-tional headquarters. The new assistant national adjutant's adju-tant's first activity in the Legion was as commander of the post at Fort Dodge, Iowa, his home town. He was elected to that position before the first national convention of the Legion In 1919 and served until his appointment appoint-ment as department adjutant. Dr. R. J. Laird of Algona, Iowa, took the department adjutancy following fol-lowing Barton's resignation. Laird resigned as national executive committeeman. com-mitteeman. That position was filled by Maurice Cahlll of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, formerly alternate committeeman. |
