Show Pennant Winners To Be Feasted A real genuine baseball "fan," appreciating ap-preciating the entertainment and high class sport the Gunnison Sugar Kings have given the residents of Gunnison this summer, and realizing realiz-ing the good that (he gladiators have done in capturing the penant of the Southern Utah baseball league with seven contenders for the honors, has suggested that the citizens show their appreciation with a substantial entertainment en-tertainment for the winners. The suggestion is well put and the fans and citizens owe it to the boys who have spent their time and money in furnishing the people with good sport and a victory that means much to the city. For the purpose of formulating plans a meeting has been called for Saturday evening at the City hall. Nothing thus far has been done for the winners of the pennant and when the true, blue fans get together several sev-eral plans will be suggested for the entertainment. There could be a "big feed" followed by a dance. The big feed for the members of the club and the dance to be enjoyed by the players and their friends. If there are hunters who are lucky enough to bag enough ducks, or should some hunter have more venison than he requires, re-quires, either of these could be used 'to a good advantage in preparing a feast for the victors. Or maybe some one could supply a fat porker or a fat lamb for roasting, or in the absence ab-sence of this a quarter of a beef will be accepted. Let's get busy and show the boys how we appreciate what they have done in capturing the coveted prize and given us entertainment during the season just closed. |
