Show Will Rush Work" On Sidewalks Yesterday, morning, H. M. Johnston John-ston and Ross O'Cillcsnie oi' 'he firm of Johnston & Gillespie, (ho successful success-ful bidders for the laying of (be concrete con-crete sidewalks in district number two in Gunnison, started a force of men on the work. Work was started on the extension of the sidewalks on South Main street, beginning at a point near the City Hall. The first section to be layed will be that lending lend-ing to the soutlwH-vijwi'' -of the town and to a point a bir"-voulh of the.. . new high school building. In all, the contractors will lay 53,-800 53,-800 feet of walk and in addition lo running to the high school building will traverse all the principal streets in Gunnison city. Some ten men are no onw the job, but the contractors contrac-tors will more than likely add to the forces alter the work is well started. It is proposed to rush the work to completion in the shortest time possible, pos-sible, and if nothing unforeseen happens hap-pens the work will be completed in forty-live or fifty days. Messrs. Johnston and Gillespie, were the lowest bidders on the job for district number two. Their bid for tho four-inch enient was H cents, and on the six-inch, 18 cents per cubic yard. For the cuts and fills, 35 cents per cubic yard. I |
