Show Break In Ranks Finally Adjustment The clouds of "disruption" which threatened the breaking up of the Southern Utah Baseball league through the withdrawal of both Klsi-nore Klsi-nore and Richfield, were wafted away i in the breezes of explanation at a meeting the league officials at Salina last Saturday night. As a result of the meeting the "dove of peace" soars serenely over the towns now in the league, and it' t he unforeseen does not happen the schedule will be played as arranged for the second half of the series. Through a misunderstanding both Richfield and Elsinore, bitterly opposed op-posed Manti entering the second half of the series and managers for both teams declared they would not participate, par-ticipate, going so far as to forTeit games. The matter was thoroughly thrashed out at the Salina meeting. managers Borg lor Richfield and Hansen for Elsinore were present at the meeting and entered their objection objec-tion to Manti coming in for the second sec-ond half. Their contention was that the expense of traveling so far would be out of the question, in that it could not be afforded to make the long trip at the heavy expense. When the matter was fully explained that only one trip would have to be made, at which time a double-header would be played and when it was impressed that "poor sportsmanship" would be shown by the withdrawal of the two teams, and would result in the forfeiture for-feiture of the $50 posted in "good faith," the respective managers agreed to go through with the schedule sched-ule as arranged and adopted by the league. The games forfeited both by Elsinore Elsi-nore and Richfield will be played, the time to be arranged by the managers. The matter of the forfeiture was waived and it was agreed that the penalty of surrendering the $50 would not be pressed providing the games were played. It came out at the meeting that practically all of the clubs playing in the league were getting the poorest poor-est support from the citizens of the ' respective towns and that, the finan- j cial affairs were not of the best. It I was proposed that an effort be put luiiu lo impress upon me lans uie importance of supporting the several teams in live league and to this end a crusade will be made to have Manti, Gunnison, Salina, Richfield, Monroe and Elsinore citizens get back of their respective teams and give them all the support possible and back up the great national sport long proven prov-en to be one of the most wholesome and cleanest sports of the present day. |
