Show Legion Members Score Big Success The members of the Gunnison Guard Mount, Post 104, American Legion, proved themselves among the royal entertainers of the state at the initial dance and entertainment given at the Peterson hall last Tuesday Tues-day night. Society and admirers of the boys who served in the great world war, turned out enmasse and the hall was crowded to overflowing. It was a mighty good crowd, though, and throughout the entire evening the boys in uniform put' forth their efforts to make the affair, enjoyable from every standpoint. And the guests of the boys enjoyed the hospitality extended. From the opening of the first dance to the conclusion con-clusion of the festivities, not a minute min-ute lagged something dcing all the time. Among the features of the entertainment were drill stunts, addresses, ad-dresses, solos, all of which added to the meriment of the party. The hall was profusely decorated with bunting and the " sars and stripes, and in the two large windows in front of the hall was an attractive attract-ive display of souvenirs brought from "over there" by the boys. During Dur-ing the evening Anthony Madsen, who . has served as treasurer of the Soldiers' Welfare fund, made the announcement an-nouncement that $22.24 remained of the fund and on motion by an enthusiastic en-thusiastic guest it was voted to turn this fund over to the local organization organiza-tion of the American Legion. The bunting, which had been purchased out of tha fund and which amounted to $125, was also turned over to the soldier boys. The members of the Gunnison Guard Mount are planning ou giving a series of entertainments and the funds derived will be used in fitting a club room and meeting place. The-proved The-proved themselves good sports and good entertainers at the Tuesday dance and they all have the assurance assur-ance of big crowds when the next event is staged. |
