Show Federal Building For Ephraim A bill was introduced in the House of Representatives July 29 by Con-gresman Con-gresman Jacob JohiiBon, to provide for the purchase of a site and the erec tiou thereou of a Federal building at Epliraim, this county, to cost $55,000. Context of the bill reads : "Be it enacted by the Senate and Houee of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the secretary of the treasury be, and he is hereby, author ized and directed to acquire, by purchase or otherwise, a suitable site upon which to erect a public building at the city of Ephraim, iu Sanpete I county, in the state of Utah, said building to be used by the United States as a postoffice, offices for its forest service, and such other governmental govern-mental purposes ss may be determined determin-ed upon, said building situ and the title thereto to be approved by the secretary of the treasury ; the cost of said site, with a good and sufficient title thereto, shall not exceed the sum of $5,000. 'Sec, 2. That bo soon as the secretary secre-tary of the treasury shall have selected select-ed said site and approved ,cf the title thereto iu the United States, he shall cause to be erected and constructed thereon a suitable building, including such fireproof vaults, heating and veutilatiog apparatus, and approaches as he may deem necessary, and upon such plans and specifications as he may determiue. Said building to be used by the United States for a post oflice, its forest service, and such other governmental purposes as may from time to time be determined upon up-on ; provided, that said building with ita appurtenances shall not exceed ex-ceed iu cost the sum of $50,000, "Sec. 3. Tuat the sum of 55,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary, neces-sary, iB hereby appropriated, out of any money in the treasury not otherwise other-wise appropriated, for the purpose of carrying into effect the provisions, of this act," |
