Still, if the committee's report, recommending recom-mending that the various franchises of the company com-pany be extended so that all will terminate fifty yoars hence, is ratified by the council, the light and railway company will have accomplished the main object for which its remarkable proposal was made. It was not the limited term of the company's com-pany's franchise which was crippling the corporation corpor-ation financially, but the question raised in eastern financial circles regarding the validity of the consolidation con-solidation of the old companies in the present corporation.
